Metropolitan Epiphanius of the OCU visited the NAU

On February 21, Metropolitan Epiphanius of the OCU visited the National Aviation University. During the solemn meeting of the Academic Council, he was awarded the title of "Doctor Honoris Causa," during which the acting rector of the educational institution, Professor Volodymyr Shulha, presented His Beatitude with the attributes of Honorary Doctor of the National Aviation University.

In his speech, Metropolitan Epiphanius of the OCU said: "I accept this high title with the understanding that it is not bestowed solely upon me as the Primate, but on our entire multi-million local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Church of the Ukrainian people, which endures all hardships and trials together with its people... Knowing our objective history well, everyone understands that the question is quite acute now: whether we will endure or not. Whether we will stand as a nation, as a state, or yield to the enemy. Not only do I believe, but I also firmly know: the Ukrainian people have proven that they are spiritually strong and unbreakable. Therefore, we will undoubtedly endure!"

After the conclusion of the solemn meeting of the Academic Council, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was given a tour of the university museum. Metropolitan Epiphanius of the OCU showed great familiarity with the aviation history of Ukraine. He was particularly interested in the fates of aviation industry professionals who began their work during the imperial times and were later forced to emigrate or endure all the trials of cooperation with the Soviet authorities.
