85 years of the Zaporizhzhia State Aircraft Repair Plant “MiGremont”

December 15 marked the 85th anniversary of the Zaporizhzhia State Aviation Repair Plant “MiGremont.” On that day in 1940, 57 stationary aircraft repair workshops were established, from which this enterprise traces its history.

The year 1978 was very important in the history of the plant, when it mastered the repair of the MiG-25RB reconnaissance bomber, which was the fastest in the world at that time. Gradually, the enterprise began to deal with all variants of aircraft of this family. In total, more than 300 such aircraft were given a new lease of life in Zaporizhzhia. Moreover, from 1984, they underwent comprehensive modernization, which included, among other things, the replacement of navigation equipment and the installation of more advanced reconnaissance equipment.

A new stage in the company's development began after Ukraine declared independence. In particular, in 1993, it began repairing the fourth-generation Su-27 fighter jet. The plant carried out work both for the domestic air force and for foreign customers.

As of early 2008, MiGremont performed a wide range of work, among which the following were the most important:

repair of several variants of the Su-17, Su-25, and Su-27 aircraft;

repair and modernization of all modifications of the MiG-25;

repair of airborne guided weapons of the air-to-air and air-to-surface classes.

The plant paid particular attention to the quality of its work. One press release emphasized: "High-quality repair of aviation equipment is the company's primary obligation to the customer. High quality is guaranteed by the quality management system in place at the plant, which complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9002, as confirmed by the quality system certificate of compliance with international standards No. 72786, issued by the international technical society Bureau Veritas.

Russian aggression has been a difficult test for MiGremont, as it has been for the whole of Zaporizhia. The city is located only a few dozen kilometers from the zone of active hostilities and regularly suffers from enemy missile and air strikes.
