On May 6, the State Aviation Museum was celebrating Victory Day and the 70th anniversary of Kyiv defense. Veterans were congratulated by: head of State Administration of Solomyanskiy region in Kyiv I.P. Sidorov, сhairman of the Museum Сouncil Shmarov V.M., vice-chancellor of the University Kazachok Y., chairman of the Veterans Сouncil of NAU Pastukhov V.K., president of the "Chervona Zirka" (“Red Star”) club Sheremetyev E.V., director of Aviation Museum Ziatdinov J.K.
Festive atmosphere was created by NAU orchestra performance and a concert featuring young creative teams of the National Aviation University and the actors – key performers in a popular war movie “Only Old Men Are Going to Battle”.
Veterans were helped to remember their heroic youth by historical reconstruction, which recreated scenes of the initial period of war: the first battle of 22 June to 19 September 1941, counterattacks of Kiev Special Military District, storming fortified subsidizes of Kiev region, the defense of Kyiv.
Roles of Red Army soldiers and the Germans were played by members of the Kiev club "Chervona Zirka", duly uniformed and armed with assault, machine guns and military equipment, specific to 1941. "Battle scenes", which was attended by armored vehicles, motorcycles, guns and a large number of small arms (which led fire blanks) lasted 30 minutes.
The holiday was completed by Victory Parade - solemn passage of honor guard company of Zhytomyr Institute of NAU and the march of orchestra of Zhytomyr Military Institute of the name of S.P. Korolyov.
